Pre Pope John Paul II Bishops (updated)

So the question: How many active bishops were appointed to their current post before Pope John Paul II became Pope?

The answer is that only 1 remains.

That ordinary is:
There are no longer any Auxiliary Bishops that meet the criteria. The last one retired in January 2012.

Interesting!

But here's a technical point. His page on the site lists one of his principal co-consecrators as "Bishop Jean Margéot." But usually in such cases you note the later promotions of such persons. Bishop Margéot later became a Cardinal. Would you note that when he now appears?

Thanks very much and keep up the GREAT work!

another good question:
How many Jean Jadot appointments still hold the chair in the USA?
